About the Camp

A Summer of Real-World Adventure

This is an outdoor summer camp designed to help kids build confidence, independence, and real-world skills through genuine hands-on experiences.

From caring for chickens and riding horses to building, planting, and creating with their own two hands, campers spend their days learning by doing — outside, together, and away from screens.

Weekly Themes

Each week brings a fresh focus packed with hands-on discovery. (Themes subject to change.)

Week 1 · June 15–19

Animals & Responsibility

A week of hands-on interactions with animals including chickens and horses/ponies. Children will have the opportunity to do everything from ride horses to collect eggs, as well as craft basic homestead items.

Week 2 · June 22–26

Build & Create

A week featuring more hands-on building using simple tools. Kids create functional projects and learn problem-solving through doing, planting, and creating — bringing their ideas to life.

A Day in Summer Camp

Daily Structure

A balanced rhythm of learning, play, and real-world skill-building.

9:00–9:20

Opening Circle + Daily Theme

Morning welcome, discussion, simple lessons, expectations, and introducing the day's hands-on activity.

9:20–10:15

Hands-On Project Time

Crafting, gardening, animal care, homesteading skills, nature-based learning, or creative building projects.

10:15–10:30

Snack + Free Play

Healthy snacks provided. Outdoor play, social time, and unstructured exploration.

10:30–11:30

Skill-Building Activities

Practical real-world skills such as planting, food prep, teamwork challenges, outdoor skills, simple tools, or nature education.

11:30–12:00

Lunch & Free Play

Exploration and free play with friends and activities.

12:00–12:45

Games / Activity Block

Group games, obstacle courses, cooperative challenges, water play, and movement-based activities.

12:45–1:00

Reflection + Cleanup

Group reflection, sharing what was learned, cleanup responsibilities, and preparing for pickup.

Frequently Asked Questions

The Kids Homesteading Summer Camp is open to children ages 5–12. Activities are adapted so every camper is engaged at their own level.
Camp runs Monday–Friday, 9:00 AM–1:00 PM. Week 1 is June 15–19 and Week 2 is June 22–26. You can register for one week or both.
Camp is held near S Terra Dr in Boise, Idaho. The exact address is provided to families after registration.
Camp is $250 per week per child, paid in full at checkout to secure your child's spot.
Refunds depend on when you cancel: 14+ days before camp, you receive a refund minus a $50 administrative fee; 7–13 days before, you receive a 50% refund; under 7 days, no-shows, and missed days are not eligible for refund or credit. If we cancel camp, you receive a full refund.
Yes! Horse and pony rides are part of the experience, alongside animal care like collecting eggs and learning to be responsible around farm animals.
