Where children become confident, capable, and independent young leaders—through challenge, mentorship, and real-world learning.
Apogee Boise exists to help children develop into confident, capable, and independent young leaders through learner-driven education, real-world experiences, movement, mentorship, and strong community.
We believe children thrive when they are challenged, trusted with responsibility, encouraged to think critically, and given opportunities to actively participate in their learning.
Four principles that shape every interaction, every project, and every day at Apogee Boise.
We encourage students to communicate clearly, think independently, take initiative, and lead with integrity.
Children develop self-direction, accountability, and ownership over their learning and personal growth.
We foster meaningful relationships between students, families, and mentors in a collaborative and supportive environment.
We believe learning should inspire exploration, creativity, resilience, and a lifelong desire to grow.

Apogee Boise is led by founder Miesha Tate and coach Shaine Jaime—a team that blends elite athletic experience, real classroom expertise, and a shared belief in mentorship over rigid instruction. Together, they create an environment where students are known individually, challenged appropriately, and supported consistently.
Shaine Jaime brings a powerful blend of high-level athletic achievement, proven coaching experience, and a deep passion for developing young people to Apogee Boise.
As a coach, Shaine has led teams to four 4A state wrestling titles and a state championship in track, while also spending six years coaching at the collegiate wrestling level. His impact goes far beyond wins—he is committed to building discipline, resilience, and confidence in every student he works with.
As an athlete, Shaine was a state champion wrestler at Wapato High School and a four-time state placer. He went on to become a two-time NCAA Division I All-American in wrestling, and he has also competed as a professional mixed martial artist.
Shaine's background in education is equally strong. He holds a bachelor's degree in interdisciplinary studies, has spent six years substitute teaching on the Yakima Indian Reservation, and taught high school history for eight years.
With both classroom experience and elite coaching credentials, Shaine is dedicated to helping students grow academically, physically, and personally.
After becoming a mother, Miesha Tate began searching for an educational environment that aligned more closely with the values she wanted for her children: independence, resilience, leadership, physical wellness, and curiosity-driven learning.
Like many parents, she saw challenges within traditional education models, including excessive screen time, standardized pacing, and limited opportunities for individualized growth.
Apogee Boise was created to provide families in the Boise area with an alternative learning environment where children are encouraged to move, explore, communicate, build confidence, and develop practical life skills alongside academics.
We're Tyler and Desiree' Sherfey, partners of Apogee Boise, and we're honored you're considering joining our community. As parents ourselves, we understand how important it is to find an environment where children are known, challenged, and inspired to become capable, confident leaders.
Desiree' is a lifelong Idaho native and earned her Bachelor's degree in Kinesiology from Boise State University. She currently works as an Exercise Physiologist in the Cardiopulmonary Rehabilitation Department at a local hospital, helping individuals improve their health through education, movement, and encouragement. A former competitive gymnast for more than a decade, she developed a deep appreciation for discipline, perseverance, and the value of hard work—qualities that continue to shape her approach to guiding children today. She also has a passion for experiencing different cultures through travel and believes some of life's greatest lessons happen outside the classroom.
Tyler brings a lifelong commitment to leadership, service, and personal excellence. A former NCAA Division I All-American wrestler, Pac-10 Champion, Greco-Roman All-American, NHSCA Senior National Champion, and two-time Washington State Champion, he understands the importance of grit, character, and resilience. He earned his Bachelor's degree in Business Administration with an emphasis in Business Management and now serves our community as a Boise firefighter and member of the Technical Rescue Team, where teamwork, critical thinking, and calm leadership are part of everyday life.
Together, we believe children learn best by doing. After our son attended public school during his early elementary years, our family made the decision to homeschool—a choice that has transformed the way we view education. Through homeschooling, we've seen firsthand how curiosity flourishes when children are given meaningful work, real-world experiences, and the freedom to learn at their own pace.
Today, we call the mountains outside of Boise home, where our family enjoys spending as much time outdoors as possible. Whether we're fly fishing, camping, tending our garden, baking sourdough, or exploring new places around the world, we strive to model a life of curiosity, adventure, and lifelong learning.
Apogee Boise was created from that same vision. We wanted to build a place where children are challenged to think independently, develop practical life skills, build strong character, and cultivate a genuine love of learning. We look forward to partnering with families who share that vision and are excited to walk alongside your child as they grow into capable, confident, and purpose-driven young adults.
