Shaine brings a powerful blend of high-level athletic achievement, proven coaching experience, and a deep passion for developing young people to Apogee Boise.
As a coach, Shaine has led teams to four 4A state wrestling titles and a state championship in track, while also spending six years coaching at the collegiate wrestling level. His impact goes far beyond wins—he is committed to building discipline, resilience, and confidence in every student he works with.
As an athlete, Shaine was a state champion wrestler at Wapato High School and a four-time state placer. He went on to become a two-time NCAA Division I All-American in wrestling, while also competing in cross country at the state level and playing varsity sports.
Shaine’s background in education is equally strong. He holds a bachelor’s degree in interdisciplinary studies, has spent six years substitute teaching on the Yakama Indian Reservation, and taught high school history for eight years. He is currently continuing his education and is halfway through completing his master’s degree in education.
With both classroom experience and elite coaching credentials, Shaine is dedicated to helping students grow academically, physically, and personally.

I’m one of the co-founders of Apogee Boise, and this mission is deeply personal to me.
Before this, I spent years as a professional athlete, where I learned a lot about discipline, resilience, and showing up when things get hard. Those lessons shaped my life—and they’re a big part of what I want to pass on to kids.
But more than anything, I’m a wife to Johnny Nuñez and a Mom of two. Having kids is and learning about the flawed public education system is what really shifted my perspective. I care a lot about raising kids who are confident, capable, and prepared for the real world and I believe this doesn’t happen the best behind a desk or in an over structured classroom.
Through my experiences in sports, business, podcasting & public speaking, I’ve seen how important skills like communication, leadership, and accountability really are. Those aren’t things you simply memorize, they’re things you learn through hands on experience.
I grew tired of feeling like my role as a parent would only continue to come second to the indoctrination of public school. I was tired of not being heard.
This is why I started Apogee Boise with Shawn. I’m here to take a stand and put family first in every regard. With my role as a mentor, a guide, and someone who genuinely believes in what these kids are capable of, my goal is to help create an environment where they feel challenged, supported, and excited to grow into strong, self-reliant individuals.

Hi! I'm Shawn (Girl Shawn) - wife to Kevin and mom to five kids: four boys (ages 27, 21, 21, and 5) and one girl, age 7.
I grew up in Missoula, Montana, and attended the University of Montana for business management. Kevin and I own a low voltage construction company that we started in Missoula and expanded to Las Vegas in 2020. We currently reside in Henderson with our youngest two.
After navigating over 12 years of traditional school with our older boys, we knew we wanted something different this time. We're forever grateful we found Apogee — a learning environment that nurtures a child's curiosity and inspires self-led learning.
Looking forward to meeting your families.
